BREAKING: Nigerian Government Declares ‘Operation Amotekun’ Illegal

The government, through the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, said that the group runs contrary to the provisions of the Nigerian laws.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo lauds Operation Amotekun

In its reaction to the Launch, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Nnia Nwodo said that the launching of Operation Amotekun by South West is commendable, particular with the pervasive ethnic colouration of the Nigeria Armed Forces.

Nwodo among other issues he raised in his reaction regretted that the Nigeria border was thrown open to foreigners that he said included recruited Boko Haram members; low morale support to soldiers fighting Boko Haram and the failing function of the judiciary and the media.

An 18-year-old boy has allegedly been shot dead by a police officer because he retaliated when the officer slapped him.

Awuzie Duru, 18, was allegedly killed within the premises of a new generation bank branch at Umuaka on Sunday, December 1.



According to reports, Awuzie, popularly known as Aboy, from Isiozi Aka in Umuaka, Imo state, had gone to the bank to withdraw money from the bank’s ATM gallery. The boy took his space on the line and other newcomers took their place behind him.

Justice Idris Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Lagos, has sentenced Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, to 12 years imprisonment after declaring the former Abia state governor guilty of  N7.1bn fraud charges levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
